Iridology

Face is the index of the mind and eyes are the mirrors of the soul. The eyes of a person reflect his hidden thoughts. Some believe, that the eyes of a person reflect his hidden ailments too. This school of thought was worked upon sincerely and Iridology came into being. By reading eyes, irises to be precise, Iridologists try to make medical diagnosis and predict diseases before symptoms appear.

The iridologist believes that every ailment is reflected in the eyes. Once the changes in the irises are interpreted, treatment becomes easy. As the illness can be identified long before the symptoms appear, preventive steps can be taken. “Prevention is better that cure.”

Iridology does not name any disease. It only identifies the ailing organ. That particular part is strengthened and the disease is driven off before it can announce its presence.

Birth of iridology

Iridology was born in 1670, when Dr. Meyens published his findings after examining and studying his patient's eyes. However, the development of Iridology began just a century back when two physicians, one from Sweden and the other from Hungary began reviving this method.

Examining the Iris

Iridology is a non-invasive and painless method of examination. The irises are examined using a penlight and a magnifying glass. Photographs of the iris using special lens cameras are taken at times. These photographs are enlarged. This facilitates a proper study of the iris.

pThe enlarged iris presents a very clear picture. Enlarged irises are unique and each human iris is unlike the others.,/p

The underlying principle of iridology

Iridology is based on the fact that every organ is related to the other. Malfunctioning or abnormalities in one part consequently get revealed in other parts of the body. Reflexology studies the soles of the feet and so does acupressure, which believes in the same principle.

Benefits of Iridology

Iridology offers a preventive cure. It does not give a symptomatic cure. Rather it improves the overall health of the person.

Reasons for wrong diagnosis

  • Iridology has not been well learnt by a majority of the practitioners. They just go through crash courses and have not dwelt the subject in depth.
  • The diagnoses are not exactly correct due to the number of diseases on the rise. Increase in the number of diseases mean subsequent increase in the multitude of symptoms too.
  • Iridology has to be understood and the knowledge should be expanded with time.
  • Belief in Iridology

An Iridologist should be selected with great care. Iridology can always be used to know or ascertain health facts. But treatment should never be based on the findings of Iridology alone. Iridology findings should always be followed up by a visit to a regular medical practitioner. Wrong diagnosis results in unnecessary mental torment.

    Interesting iridology facts:

  • No two irises are same. Like fingerprints every iris is unique.
  • Because of this unique nature of the iris, security identification in ATM's and airports would be based on iris identification.
  • Eye scanners may also come into use. In future, programming would enable doors to be unlocked upon scanning and identifying the eyes.
